To help with the modernization of the EMB-312 fleet, Antares designs a Head Up Display (HUD) fully integrated with aircraft avionics.
ISSUE
The Colombian Air Force’s fleet of EMB-312 aircraft, used for combat pilot training, faced significant limitations due to the outdated refractive sights on board. These sights could not be calibrated, as the necessary mechanical and optical components were no longer available on the market, rendering them unusable. This issue threatened the fleet’s effectiveness and autonomy as a training platform for combat pilots.
SOLUTION
The Colombian Air Force contacted Antares to propose a solution to the problem. Additionally, they requested that the solution integrate with the aircraft’s modernized electronic screens, enabling some flight information data to be projected on the HUD.
RESULTS
Antares conducted extensive research in optics, electronics, software, and ergonomics to develop a modern electronic sight (HUD) with a shooting accuracy range of 2 mils, night vision compatibility, and the ability to project desired flight information onto the combiner. The solution complies with MIL-STD-810 and MIL-STD-461 standards and is NVIS compatible.
