Antares has showcased its engineering and manufacturing expertise through a complex project involving numerous parts with diverse shapes subjected to constant load.
ISSUE
A few years ago, the Colombian Air Force had to cancel two tenders for acquiring Kfir-COA landing wheels due to the challenge of sourcing the numerous non-standard parts needed for their proper functioning. This shortage created a critical need for the Kfir fleet, as there were no available units to maintain fleet operations.
SOLUTION
In addition to its in-house engineering expertise, Antares A&D also possesses metalworking capabilities. This combination enables complete product development, particularly for legacy or custom products, as they can produce metal parts with non-standard shapes as needed. Antares A&D conducted an engineering study and developed a production plan to manufacture the Kfir wheel.
RESULTS
The resulting product has successfully passed rigorous tests, including drop tests, run tests, speed tests, and high-temperature safety evaluations. Since the need for this wheel emerged around 10 years ago, it has demonstrated safe and reliable operation over several years.
